L-Methioninamide hydrochloride is a trifluoroacetate amide that has been shown to have cancer cell growth inhibitory effects in experimental models. It is also a serine protease inhibitor and an antioxidant, which may be due to its ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species and protect the lipid membrane. L-Methioninamide hydrochloride has been shown to have neuroprotective effects in cell cultures, as well as neurotrophin-like activity. The enzyme activity of L-methioninamide hydrochloride has been found to be optimal at a neutral pH (6). This compound is sensitive to acid environments and alcohol residue, which are common in stomachs.
