Methyl 6-bromo-2-naphthoate is an eluting compound that binds with a hydroxyl group to the gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor. Methyl 6-bromo-2-naphthoate has been shown to inhibit the production of GABA in fetal bovine brain slices, which may be due to its ability to bind selectively with this receptor. This agent also inhibits cell proliferation and induces cell death in culture by interacting with proteins involved in cell cycle regulation.
