4-Morpholinecarbonyl chloride (4MC) is a molecule with a neutral pH and chemical structure. It is synthesized by reacting an amide with 4-chlorocarbonylchloride. This molecule has been shown to have antimicrobial properties against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida glabrata, and Staphylococcus aureus. It also inhibits cancer cells in vitro. 4MC has been studied for its possible use as a lysine analogue for the treatment of cancer, but this approach was abandoned because it was found that deuterium isotope effect on nitrogen atoms had no inhibitory effect on the growth of cancer cells.
