Description:

N-Methyl-2-pyrrolealdehyde is a reactive substance that has antioxidant properties. It is formed from chlorogenic acids, which are found in many fruits and vegetables. The antioxidative activity of this compound is thought to be due to the presence of the nitrogen atoms and intramolecular hydrogen bonds. It can also be synthesized by reacting palladium complexes with fatty acids and halides. This reaction produces a mixture of products, including N-methyl-2-pyrrolealdehyde, which undergoes hydrolysis to form N-methylpyrrole.
