Description:

2-Methyl-3-propylpyrazine is a flavorant that has a high specificity for tobacco. It is used as an additive in cigarettes, cigars, and other tobacco products. 2-Methyl-3-propylpyrazine has been shown to be a possible marker for the identification of tobacco smoking. This compound can be detected by gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC/FID) and gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (GC/MS) methods. 2-Methyl-3-propylpyrazine is also one of the compounds that are responsible for the distinctive aroma of roasted coffee.
