One study has shown that methyl phenoxyacetate may inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells by inhibiting the activity of proton pumps in tumor cells, which leads to a decrease in intracellular pH and increased cytotoxicity. This process also inhibits the production of inflammatory molecules such as prostaglandin E2 by blocking cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) activity.
