Description

2-Mercaptobenzothiazole zinc salt is a compound that is used in wastewater treatment and has been shown to exhibit anti-fouling properties. 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole zinc salt is an electron donor, which makes it useful for the removal of organic materials from water. It is known to be stable in acidic and alkaline solutions, making it suitable for use in wastewater treatment plants. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) showed that 2-mercaptobenzothiazole zinc salt was able to inhibit bacterial growth by reducing the transfer of electrons to bacteria. This means that 2-mercaptobenzothiazole zinc salt can reduce the synthesis of fatty acids in bacteria, which are necessary for maintaining cell membranes.
