Methyl tiglate is a trifluoroacetic acid derivative that is used as a conditioning agent to prepare bacterial strains for DNA extraction. This compound has been shown to be effective against bacteria that have a nucleophilic attack on the carbonyl group, such as malonic acid, and other reaction products. Methyl tiglate also has an effect on congestive heart disease patients with diabetes due to its ability to inhibit the serotonergic system.
