Name:Methyl 3-aminoisonicotinate
Synonyms:
- 4-Pyridine carboxylic acid-3-amino methyl ester3-Amino isonicotinic acid methyl ester
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Methyl 3-aminoisonicotinate is an organic compound that inhibits nitrification. It is synthesized by the esterification of 3-nitrobenzyl alcohol with methyl acrylate in the presence of palladium (II) chloride as a catalyst. The reaction proceeds through the formation of an intermediate nitrosoamine, which upon hydrolysis yields methyl 3-aminoisonicotinate and water. This compound has been used to study the effects of various conditions on nitrification rates, such as temperature and pH levels. Methyl 3-aminoisonicotinate was discovered by brominating nitrite, followed by esterification with ammonia and methanol, followed by catalytic reduction to yield methyl 3-aminoisonicotinate. The rate of this reaction depends on the concentration of catalyst used.
