Description

Methylcarbamoylchloride (MC) is an organochloride compound that is synthesized from hydrogen chloride and carbonyl chloride. It also has antiviral activity against the hepatitis B virus. MC inhibits methionine aminopeptidase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of N-terminal amino acids from polypeptides. MC blocks the metabolism of methionine, which causes a build up of methionine in cells. MC has been shown to be effective against autoimmune diseases by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter associated with muscle contractions.
