N-Methyl-L-leucine is a cyclic peptide that is synthesized from the amino acid leucine. It has been shown to have antimicrobial properties by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and fungi. N-Methyl-L-leucine has also been shown to have antiviral activity against HIV, as well as other viruses such as Hepatitis C. This drug inhibits the synthesis of proteins by binding to enzymes in the energy metabolism pathway, which may be due to its ability to disrupt molecular hydrogen bonding between amide groups. The thermodynamic data for this molecule is available at www.rxlist.com/thermodynamicdata/drugs/N-methyl-L-leucine hydrochloride.html
