DL-a-Methylleucine is a non-protein amino acid that can be found in leucine, methionine, and other amino acids. It is used to prepare samples for analysis by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) or gas chromatography (GC). DL-a-methylleucine can be used in the detection of alpha-methyl amino acids in ochrobactrum cultures. It has been shown to have high concentrations of nucleobases and can be used as an analytical reagent for the determination of nucleobases.
DL-a-Methylleucine is also used as a calibrant for reversed phase HPLC columns and to culture cells.
