N-Methylphenethylamine (NMPEA) is a chemical substance that is found in many natural compounds. It can be synthesized by reacting phenethylamine with trifluoroacetic acid and reacts with ionization sources to produce ions detectable in mass spectrometry. NMPEA has been detected in human urine samples and has been shown to have significant interactions with the hepg2 cell line. The uptake of NMPEA into cells is facilitated by amines, which are abundant in heart tissue.
