6-Methylflavone is a chemical substance with a molecular structure of C10H12O2. It has been shown to have GABA receptor binding properties and can therefore be used to study the physiological effects of GABA. 6-Methylflavone has low bioavailability, which can be improved by increasing the concentration in tissue culture. Hydroxyl group on 6-Methylflavone increases its hydrogen bonding ability and makes it more soluble in water. The optimum concentration for 6-Methylflavone is 0.1mM, which should be tested in pharmacokinetics studies. 6-Methylflavone may also have anticancer properties due to its enhancement of protein synthesis in bacterial cells.
