Product Information
- Isoquinoline, 7-methoxy-
- 7-Methoxy-isoquinoline
7-Methoxyisoquinoline is a methoxy compound with a variety of uses. It can be used as an oral dosage form to treat diabetes, or as a plasticizer in the manufacture of plastics. 7-Methoxyisoquinoline has shown efficacy in treating rheumatoid and arthritis, and is also used to reduce blood sugar levels for people with diabetes. The drug binds to the active site of phosphodiesterase (PDE) type 4 enzyme, which prevents the breakdown of cyclic nucleotides and increases cAMP levels. This leads to increased insulin release from beta cells in the pancreas and decreased glucose uptake by cells. 7-Methoxyisoquinoline also inhibits monolayers of lipids by binding to one side of the bilayer membrane, disrupting its structure and function.
