8-Methoxyisoquinoline is a synthetic compound and is used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals. It is also used to produce insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides. 8-Methoxyisoquinoline has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as malaria and leishmaniasis. This compound can be found in natural products such as protoberberine alkaloids and has been shown to inhibit acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity.
