Description:

2-Methoxy-6-methylpyridine (2MM6MP) is a benzylic compound that is a metabolite of the drug amiodarone. 2MM6MP has been shown to have toxic effects on the liver, and can lead to liver damage including the formation of gallstones in humans. It also has immunosuppressive properties. This compound was injected into hamsters, which led to statistically significant increases in cholesterol levels over a period of six weeks. Additionally, 2MM6MP has been shown to cause translational damage and induce gallstone formation in vivo experiments.
