Description:Myrcene is a terpene that has been shown to have antibacterial efficacy against a number of bacteria. Myrcene inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the enzyme, synthase, which is responsible for the synthesis of fatty acids. This bound form of myrcene has been shown to be more effective than free myrcene in inhibiting bacterial growth. Myrcene also suppresses chronic cough and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. Myrcene has not been shown to exhibit genotoxic activity or signal peptide inhibitory properties, but does show inhibitory properties against natural compounds and water vapor.
