Methyl phosphorodichloridate is a cyclic peptide, which is the most toxic of the phosphoramidates. It has been shown to have high frequency shift and adsorption to a molecule's surface. The mechanism of action of this compound is not yet known, but it may be due to its ability to form an intermediate with hydroxyl groups or carbonyl groups in the presence of trimethyl phosphite. Methyl phosphorodichloridate binds to secretory phospholipase A2 through an amide bond and activates this enzyme, leading to the release of arachidonic acid and subsequent inflammatory response. This molecule also interacts with other molecules through hydrogen bonds. It is believed that these interactions are responsible for its toxicity as they lead to activation energies.
