Description:
Methyl 3,5-Dibenzyloxybenzoate is a dendrimeric compound that is used in the synthesis of singlet oxygen. It produces singlet oxygen with quantum yields up to 5%. Methyl 3,5-Dibenzyloxybenzoate is also used to produce phthalocyanines and macrocycles. This compound has been shown to be unstable in some solvents and can undergo dimerization or macrocyclization reactions. The isolation of this compound is difficult due to its low solubility in organic solvents.
