Product Information

Name:
5-Methoxyisophthalic Acid
Synonyms:
  • 5-Methoxybenzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid
Description:

5-Methoxyisophthalic acid is a water-soluble compound that can be used as a potent cytotoxic agent. It can bind to metal ions and form coordination complexes, which inhibit the activity of enzymes in cell membranes and cause cell death. 5-Methoxyisophthalic acid has been shown to have potent cytotoxicity against various cancer cells, including leukemia, breast cancer, lung cancer, and prostate cancer. This drug also induces apoptosis through the activation of caspases and the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria into the cytoplasm. 5-Methoxyisophthalic acid is a homolog of isophthalate and shows anti-cancer effects by binding to DNA and inhibiting transcription.
