N-Methyldioctylamine has been shown to inhibit protease activity in wild-type strains of bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It also inhibits hematopoietic cells from developing into mature cells by disrupting the biochemical composition of their membranes. N-Methyldioctylamine is reactive with fatty acids and amines found in mammalian tissue samples. This compound can be used as a sample preparation agent or analytical reagent for caproic acid, which is used in process optimization applications.
