Description

Linolenic acid methyl ester is a natural compound that belongs to the group of sesquiterpene lactones. It has been shown to have optimal concentration for its antibacterial activity at 0.025%. Linolenic acid methyl ester has been found to inhibit the growth of bacteria in vitro by disrupting hydrogen bonding interactions with the bacterial cell membrane, which reduces their permeability. The mechanism of action is similar to that of other natural compounds such as erythromycin and vancomycin.
