Product Information
Name:Methyl 4-(1-hydroxyethyl)benzoate
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Methyl 4-(1-hydroxyethyl)benzoate (HMB) is an anionic compound that can be produced by the elimination of hydrazide from methyl 4-aminobenzoate and hydrogenation of methyl 4-formylbenzoate. HMB may be used as a surfactant in industrial processes, such as during the production of nylon. It is also used to catalyze transfer hydrogenation reactions and formaldehyde reduction reactions. HMB has been shown to have a ligand binding affinity for iridium metal, which may be due to its carbonyl group.
