7-Methoxyflavanone is a flavonoid that inhibits the activity of aromatase, an enzyme responsible for converting androgens into estrogens. It has been shown to have anti-cancer properties in vitro. 7-Methoxyflavanone can be found in plants such as peppermint, spearmint, and yarrow. This compound is metabolized through hydroxylation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, conjugation with glucuronic acid, or biotransformations. The compound also binds to toll-like receptors on natural killer cells and microglial cells and inhibits their proliferation. Studies have shown that 7-methoxyflavanone has inhibitory effects on bv2 microglial cells as well as other types of microglia cells.
