Description:2-Methylbenzanilide is a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist that is used as a biocide for control of fungi, bacteria and algae. It inhibits the mitochondrial electron transport chain by binding to it and blocking the flow of electrons. 2-Methylbenzanilide has been shown to be effective against wild-type strains of bacteria, but not mutant strains. The effective dose for 2-methylbenzanilide ranges from 0.01 ppm to 1000 ppm, depending on the type of organism and the application method.
