Description:Methyl 10-undecenoate is an alkanoic acid with a hydroxyl group and a cationic surfactant. It has been used as a component for the synthesis of benzalkonium chloride, which is used in cosmetics and detergents. Methyl 10-undecenoate can be synthesized by reacting sodium bisulfite with the appropriate fatty acid chloride. The chemical structures of methyl 10-undecenoate and its sodium salt are similar to those of the amide and fatty acid, respectively. Methyl 10-undecenoate can be used to produce biodiesel under constant pressure conditions.
