Methyl 4-toluate is a fatty acid that is used in the synthesis of butyric acid, which is used in the production of covid-19. Methyl 4-toluate can be synthesized by metathesis reactions between cobaltic and deuterium isotopes. The activation energies for these reactions are determined by the type of catalyst used. Methyl 4-toluate is also used as a solvent for benzoate and diphenyl ether, which are chemical compounds that are found in perfumes and other household products. Methyl 4-toluate has a chemical stability of seven to eight hours at room temperature.
