mPEG7-SH is a hydrophobic molecule that has two functional groups (i.e., dibutyl). It is used as a binder for immobilization of proteins and enzymes. The mPEG7-SH has been shown to have an acidic nature, which can be detected by assays such as the potentiometric titration method. The mPEG7-SH is also a good candidate for use in amperometric biosensors because it binds to monoclonal antibodies with high affinity. Aptasensors are sensors that can detect various environmental pollutants, including pesticides and herbicides. mPEG7-SH has shown pharmacological effects, such as reduction of glucose levels in diabetic mice.
