Description

Morusin is a natural product that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity in vitro. Morusin also binds to DNA and inhibits bacterial growth by preventing transcription and replication. Morusin is active against the photosynthetic bacteria, such as the genus Angelicae Dahuricae, which are resistant to many antibiotics. Morusin has been shown to inhibit bowel disease by reducing inflammatory responses in mice. The mechanism of action behind this effect is not known. Morusin may be an inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) or a modulator of inflammation pathways such as apoptosis.
