Product Information
Name:Methyl Cyclopropanecarboxylate
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Methyl cyclopropanecarboxylate (MCP) is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed to methyl cyclopropane-carboxylate (MCC) in vivo. MCP has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of actin polymerization, with an IC50 of 0.8 μM. It prevents the formation of actin filaments by inhibiting the ATPase activity of myosin II, which is required for the assembly and stabilization of these structures. This inhibition leads to the destabilization of F-actin and myosin II, which are essential for contraction and relaxation in muscle cells. The effects on actin polymerization have been demonstrated using in vitro assays and titration calorimetry. In addition, MCP has been shown to inhibit myocardial infarct size and increase survival time in mice treated with hydrogen fluoride. MCP also increases body mass index and inhibits glucose uptake by adipocytes, as well
