4-Methoxy-6-tert-butylphenol is a human and animal pathogen, which can cause sepsis in humans. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme activity of dinucleotide phosphate (DNP) reductase and cytochrome P450 reductase in rat liver microsomes. DNP reductase is an enzyme that catalyzes the reduction of DNP to diphosphate, which is required for DNA synthesis. Cytochrome P450 reductase catalyzes the conversion of L-carnitine to acetyl coenzyme A, which is used for fatty acid synthesis. 4-Methoxy-6-tert-butylphenol also inhibits transcriptional regulation and glucuronide conjugation, both of which are necessary for bacterial metabolism. This compound also has resistant properties against other microorganisms such as E. coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae due to its ability to inhibit hydrox
