Product Information
Name:Nadic anhydride
Synonyms:
- Himic anhydridecis-5-Norbornene-endo-2,3-dicarboxylic acid anhydride
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Nadic anhydride is a chemical compound with the formula CH(CO)O. It is a colorless liquid that can be synthesized by reacting an epoxy with sodium phenoxide in the presence of triethylamine and sodium hydroxide. Nadic anhydride has been used to modify polymers, such as glycol esters, to form high-temperature resistant materials. This reaction occurs through the formation of an epoxy-anhydride intermediate, which reacts with the polymer's double bond to form stable products. The high reactivity of this intermediate is due to its nitrogen atoms, which are in a reactive methyl ethyl group. Nadic anhydride also reacts with water vapor to produce hydrochloric acid and nadic acid, which can cause corrosion.
