Description

1-Naphthylacetic acid is a fluorescent compound that can be used as a chemical marker for the identification of sodium salts. It has an optimum concentration of 0.1 mg/L and a maximum concentration of 1 mg/L in water. The fluorescence detector is set to measure the synchronous fluorescence at a wavelength of 515 nm. 1-Naphthylacetic acid is soluble in water and organic solvents, but insoluble in nonpolar solvents such as ether, chloroform, or benzene. This compound can be used for the detection of pesticides with a chemical structure similar to that of 1-naphthylacetic acid, such as 2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenol and 2-chloro-5-(trifluoromethoxy)phenol, using dispersive solid phase extraction (DSPE).
