This compound has been shown to activate the metalloproteinase MT2 receptor, which is involved in the regulation of blood pressure and heart function. 3-Nitrosalicylaldehyde is metabolized by hydrolysis and reduction to form a neutral product, which has been shown to have antidiabetic effects on mice.
