Description:6-Nitrosaccharin is a copper salt that has been shown to have cancer-causing properties in humans. It also has depressant activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the function of the bitter taste receptors in the mouth. 6-Nitrosaccharin is readily absorbed and excreted unchanged in urine, with only a small amount being metabolized by hydrolysis to benzoate and nitrite. 6-Nitrosaccharin is used as an industrial catalyst and an analytical reagent, but can also be found in environmental pollution caused by chlorinated compounds.
