Description:19-Nortestosterone acetate is a synthetic hormone used as a treatment for breast cancer, prostate cancer, and other cancers. It is an ester of 19-nortestosterone and acetic acid. This drug has a hydroxy group at the C19 position which is important for protein binding and metabolism. It is metabolized in the liver to produce propionate. 19-Nortestosterone acetate binds to steroid receptors in the nucleus to inhibit protein synthesis and decrease lipid synthesis by blocking the action of lipoprotein lipase, leading to weight loss. This drug also has been shown to be effective in lowering blood pressure and combating fatty acids that may lead to cardiac arrhythmia or cardiac arrest.
