Nocardamine is a chemical compound with antimicrobial activity. It is a cyclic peptide that has been shown to be active against human pathogens. Nocardamine inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting translation and protein synthesis. It also binds to DNA, which prevents transcription and replication. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Nocardamine also has a strong redox potential and reacts with trifluoroacetic acid (TFA).
