Description

Nitrocycline is a drug that is used to treat cancer and also as an adjuvant in the treatment of tuberculosis. It inhibits the activity of fatty acid synthase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the formation of fatty acids. The drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of cells at high doses by inhibiting protein synthesis in the cells. Nitrocycline has been found to bind with high affinity to antibodies against tumor-associated antigens and can be used for diagnostic purposes. It also works as a chemotherapeutic agent against certain viruses such as human papillomavirus, herpes simplex virus, Epstein-Barr virus, and varicella zoster virus.
