Description:N-Nitroso-L-proline is a chemical that belongs to the class of bicyclic heterocycles. It can be used in the treatment of HIV infection and cancer, as well as in the study of nitrate metabolism. N-Nitroso-L-proline has been shown to inhibit HIV replication by blocking the reverse transcriptase enzyme, which is essential for viral replication. It also inhibits cancer cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis and protein synthesis in tumor cells. The metabolism of N-nitrosamines has been studied using a model system and a dose group analysis. The nitrosation product, nitrite ion, is oxidized to nitrate ion by acid formation. This process can be monitored through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and histological analyses.
