5-Norbornene-2,3-dicarboximide (NBD) is an experimental solubility data. NBD has been shown to have a solvatochromatic effect on theophylline, which is sensitive to solvent polarity. NBD has a low ionization potential and high solubility in aromatic solvents, such as chloroform. Pharmacokinetic experiments have demonstrated that NBD is metabolized by cytochrome P450 and glucuronidation pathways, with elimination primarily by renal excretion. Monitoring of pharmacokinetics has been shown to be possible through measurement of plasma concentrations and urine excretion levels.
