Description

Beta-naphthoflavone is a potent inducer of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in the presence of metal chelate, such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA). It also shows genotoxic activity and has been shown to be cytotoxic to human squamous cell carcinoma cells. Beta-naphthoflavone is a natural compound found in many plants, including the leaves of nasturtiums. It is used in the preparation of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Beta-naphthoflavone is structurally similar to other compounds that are known to have anticancer properties. This drug may be useful for cancer prevention or for treating individuals with pre-cancerous conditions.
