Product Information

Name:
2-Nonenoic acid
Synonyms:
  • (2Z)-non-2-enoic acid
  • NSC 32357
  • trans-2-Nonenoic acid
Description:

Hydrogen chloride is a byproduct of the reaction between 2-nonenoic acid and hydrogen gas. It is an antimicrobial agent that has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in bacterial cells. The structure of 2-nonenoic acid is a monocarboxylic acid with a branched chain. 2-Nonenoic acid has been shown to be effective in treating cirrhosis, which may be due to its ability to inhibit fatty acid synthesis. Research has also indicated that 2-nonenoic acid may have an inhibitory effect on the production of monoclonal antibodies, which are proteins produced by B lymphocytes that bind to specific antigens on foreign cells or substances
