2-Naphthalenethiol belongs to the class of thiolates, which are molecules that contain a sulfur atom bound to an aromatic ring. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of enzyme activity by binding to the amino acid cysteine in the active site. This inhibition is reversible and can be reversed by adding excess free thiols such as glutathione. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm has been used to study the chemical stability of 2-naphthalenethiol in human serum. The molecule was found to be stable when incubated at room temperature for up to two days. 2-Naphthalenethiol is also useful for enhancing nmr spectra, monolayers, and fluorescence properties due to its ability to bind with proteins and other biomolecules. Sample preparation methods have been developed using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and photoelectron spectroscopy for the investigation of chemical studies on 2-naphthal
