It inhibits the growth of cancer cells by interacting with the dehydrogenase enzyme in the reaction system and inhibiting the production of fatty acids and aldehydes. The nitro group on 3-Nitro-L-phenylalanine interacts with guanine, which prevents it from forming hydrogen bonds and stabilizing its structure. This destabilizes DNA structures and leads to cell death.
