4-Nitro-3-picoline (NPP) is a colorless liquid that has an intramolecular hydrogen bond. It reacts with water to form the corresponding nitrate, which is a strong oxidizer. 4-Nitro-3-picoline has been shown to have optical properties that are sensitive to changes in pH and temperature.
