Nomega-tosyl-L-beta-homoarginine is a substrate for the N-methylation of an amine, in which the nitrogen atom is methylated. The reaction is catalyzed by trimethylphosphine and azide. The reaction can also be done with toluene and amines or azides. This process yields a Nbeta-Boc derivative of the Nomega-tosyl-L-beta-homoarginine.
