Description:

4-Nitrobenzenesulfonyl Fluoride (4NBF) is a fluorescent probe that can be used to study the interactions between amino acids and phospholipases. 4NBF binds to lysine residues in proteins and inhibits the activity of phospholipases. It has also been shown to bind to serotonin receptors, which may be important for understanding the role of this neurotransmitter in psychiatric disorders. 4NBF is also able to penetrate cells, which makes it useful for investigating uptake mechanisms. When 4NBF enters the cell, it binds to histidine residues on proteins, leading to an inactivation of the protein. The molecular modeling of 4NBF has shown that its binding constant is similar to that of dopamine and histidine, which could explain why it is able to inhibit their actions.
