Norkurarinone is a natural compound that inhibits the growth of bacteria. It has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators, such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes, in vitro. In addition, norkurarinone has been shown to have protective effects against oxidative stress and some metabolic disorders. Norkurarinone has also been shown to be effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as yeast. The optimum concentration for inhibition is 0.3 μg/mL.
The chemical structure of norkurarinone is similar to sophoraflavanones found in Sophora flavescens leaves, which may contribute to its antimicrobial activity.
