Description

Naringenin chalcone is a flavonoid that is found in plants and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Naringenin chalcone prevents oxidative injury by inhibiting the release of reactive oxygen species from human polymorphonuclear leukocytes. It also prevents neuronal death by inhibiting the production of reactive oxygen species in HL-60 cells and has been shown to reduce atherosclerotic lesion formation in mice. Naringenin chalcone binds to DNA and inhibits polymerase chain reaction with an IC50 value of 6 μM, which suggests that it may be a useful drug candidate for treating chronic inflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
